- End Preventable Deaths:
Encourage governments and health communities to intensify efforts to eliminate preventable maternal and newborn fatalities. - Prioritize Women’s Health:
Emphasize the importance of women’s long-term health and well-being throughout and beyond pregnancy. - Provide Supportive Information:
Share valuable resources to promote healthy pregnancies, safe births, and improved postnatal care.
The urgency of this initiative is underscored by current statistics:
- Approximately 300,000 women die annually due to pregnancy or childbirth complications.
- Over 2 million babies die within their first month of life each year.
- Around 2 million more are stillborn.
This equates to roughly one preventable death every 7 seconds.
